From the Farm

Each animal has a very important role in our plan for regenerative farming. Here are a few fun facts about what we are raising and why.

Berkshire / Tamworth Pigs

These heritage breed pigs play a pivotal role in regenerating the soil on our farm. They are a cold hearty breed, suited to living outdoors in our northern climate. They are a sweet, friendly breed & always happy for some attention.

Highlights

Berkshire pork, prized for juiciness, flavour, and tenderness, is pink-hued and heavily marbled.

The meat is darker than commercial pork and far more flavorful than the pork found in your grocery-store freezer.

Our pigs live outdoors year round with access to summer shade and winter shelter.

We supplement their forage with a custom blend of grains & legumes, free from corn (which is the cause of higher Omega-6 to 3 ratio in standard Hog Grower).

Our pigs are rotated to new pasture/wooded area every 10-12 days. This provides them with fresh forage regularly.
